I got a 2001 Passat with the "advanced" audio system..now it didn't even have a cd player on it and I was very disappointed. So I ran to my local bestbuy to buy a CD changer, I thought that would make this all better. The Changer is a blue "Neo Changer" that holds 10 disc's. But every time I burn a cd using CD-R and CD-RW It wont read it. What am I doing wrong? does anyone know?

How are you burning the CD's?
Data with MP3?
Audio CD?
What software are you using? Are you 'finishing' the CDs?
May just be that it is not advanced enought to read CDr - like the older units

are you using el-cheapo media? if so, try some quality media. also, make sure you try CD-R before CD-RW, I know older units couldn't read CD-RW.
also make sure you're starting off with AUDIO cd, not Data with MP3s on it. The changer may be able to read MP3 cds, but there may be a limitation with the head unit.
Why not start by getting a copied cd of a friend that you know works in there cd player see if it works in your car and go from there.

my monsoon did not recognize mp3 cds, only audio cds.
