    Would This Work?

Before I get going onto my latest project (which is gonna be a few months out unfortunately, it's going to be that long before I replace the block in my Thunderbird, stupid puddle/lake) I wanna collect information and make a project outline. And one of the things I hate about my current car is the stereo.

Granted, I got this thing for free from a shift manager at Pizza Hut where I work (as a cook for now). Fixed the volume up button, had to replace the switch he somehow broke (gotta love surface mount soldering). Well this thing is a Dynacraft which, after about 2 hours of ing, I determined was a WalMart brand. This thing sucks with MP3s, has no skip protection, and tends to lock up sometimes, where I actually have to get my stylus out and hit the reset button on it. So it's gotta go!

The question is thus; is there anything to stop me from getting either a 4 channel computer speaker driver or 2 of the same drivers and wiring them directly to my car speakers via the Thunderbird wiring harness? (Note that I did this originally when my desktop was in the basement, used two 2.1 drivers to drive some 4 inch room speakers) I'm planning to use a spare Live 512 card I have sitting around, or maybe if I really want to trick her out, get another Audigy 2 ZS Platinum so I can use the remote (love this thing, it's in my tower).

The general idea is to replace the stereo I have with a slot load DVD rom, and possibly the Audigy front interface (man, that's gonna suck extending all the wires for that).

i would get a good hu, one with aux in. so when it comes time for a comp install, you are ready.

btw, last time i had an audigy 2, a while ago tho, it was an IDE cable and a firewire cable. both extendable. esp since its not ide standards, just wires in a 40 pin config

It's an IDE cable with odd pin blocks in mine, but if I don't want to find an IDE extender or make my own cable I've got 40 wires to cut and 80 wires to solder. Not counting firewire which I may not use anyway. I don't have any firewire devices.

What's a 'hu?' And I don't want to settle for stereo out from my computer.
