Grounding a plastic case to lose whine

I have engine whine when I'm listening to music via the carputer. I'm going to rerun the wires this weekend. I would like to do it right and not have to use a ground loop isolator. I'll do the normal stuff like running the power wires separately from sound but I need suggestions on grounding the actual carputer. I know some people ground their case but mine is plastic. Do I need to ground it? If I do, any suggestions? Thanks!

If you want you can ground one of the screws that is holding the MOBO to the plexi or plastic case.....(make some kind of conection from the screw to the ground lead). Also there are people here that don't Believe in grounding the case at all (it had been discuss before)

    Plastic does not conduct electricity.

Ground to a common location, if possible.

I usually ground my case via the power supply. Just attach a wire to one of the screws. I find that the noise significantly decreased in my system when I did this.

lol...i know it would be pointless to ground a plastic case..that was my point. but it seems a lot of people ground their case and since mine isn't metal i was looking for other option to ground in/around the mobo so i can rule it out as a cause of the whine.

i'll try what others have suggested.

How are all your power and ground wires currently run?
