Getting Rice Krispies with MII10000 onboard audio

I've got the carputer installed and running and it's great, except I'm getting 'rice krispies' (snap, crackle, pop) when outputting audio. It's a small snap/crackle/popping noise once every second or so that only occurs when mp3s are playing (i.e., if i pause winamp they stop). I know the onboard Epia audio isn't great, but it can't be this bad, can it?

I'm using Monster Cable & 3.5mm->RCA adapters to connect the MB to a Pioneer 4ch amp, and Rockford Fosgate 8-gauge for power & ground for the amps and M1-ATX. The only thing I can think of is a thread I came across that discussed RMI/EF interference from caseless installs - would this cause this kind of problem? My MB is sitting in my glovebox, sans case, so that might apply.

try cleaning all of the contact surfaces used to transfer audio. I hear rubbing alcohol works good, Home Depot sells contact cleaner in an aerosol can.

i get the same thing, but it happens all the time. As far as i can tell, it's noise coming from my wireless NIC thats in the PCMCIA slot just above the audio connector. If i get transferring files, it's solid static on the speakers I'll maybe hafta go wrapping that wNIC card in tinfoil or sumthin lol

    O_o very odd

I don't have a NIC, though I do have the PCMCIA/SD card thingy plugged in, I'll try taking it off since I don't need it.

If it was the contacts, wouldn't it be random instead of .....not-random? I'll try it though.

It sounds like a performance problem on your processor to me. Or something else like your software. Have you tried a different player, or does it do the same thing when you hear any of the windows sounds. Is it only when you play mp3s or cds or anytime it plays anything. is it a constant repeating thing. Is your engine on.

The hard drive is right next to the MB, I will try moving it. I haven't tried it with the engine off, but it did the same thing when on AC power inside the house, so I don't think that's it. I don't play CDs and have no windows sounds and only use winamp, but I did try WMP and got the same thing. Bout to go try all the suggested fixes, I'll post back with results. Thanks to everyone so far for the suggestions.

No luck on any of the suggestions so far. I'm going to pop in a pci soundcard to see if it's any and all audio, or just the onboard stuff.

Are the gains on your amps turned up too high? That may cause problems.

Nah, I had the gain way low at first but could still hear it. Funny thing is, I've either become used to it so I don't notice it, or it's gone away..
