problem NOT solved. i have an opus 150 and a properly grounded amp and pc and i too have the dreaded alternator/engine whine.

i like leslie's idea of having a grounding block, why not have one, since most of us have a power distribution block too. it makes sense.

maybe i can help you out i just got rid of this problem on mine ok you said the pc is using the aux in port on the headunit if you unplug the audio cable fromt eh soundcard does the whine stop?

If you turn the PC off is it still there with the headunit one? at a high volume?

and next was my problem I used a plexiglass sheet to mount my motherboard well needless to say the brackets on the plexiglass were some how causeing a whine I insulated all the connections and bolted everything back down and it stopped.

oh and I am running mine off of a old 400w generic inverter

to secure the plexiglass plate from moving and vibrating mine is mounted to two alluminum brackets that are bolted to the body of the car and the motherboard was mounted to the sheet using 6x24 machine screws and nylon spacers so i simply insulated both using electrical tape and put rubber gromets on the screws and it did the trick no more whine

part of your problem could be the low voltages the soundcard outputs, you could try a pre amp. i use a pheonix gold pro line driver that ups my voltage from 2.2v to 8 volt, solved my problem with whine instantly. Also before i got the pld i wrapped my rcas in a couple of layers of foil, this helped a bit also added abit more shielding to the cables. HTH
