You may need a code inorder to get it out of protection. Once constant power is disconnected on some secure radios, it requires a code to allow use. The dealer should have given you a card or someting or they can look it up for you. You'll probably need your vin and possibly a serial number off the radio.

might check your owners manual if you still have it as well...might save you a trip to the dealership

Thank you for replying but radio has no code function.
I think it must get some kind of code from ecu.
Any info about that?
All Bmw buisness Class Radios behaves the same way.
If i take it out from my car and put it in another works fine in fact in any Bmw works fine.
It has a certain pin named Wake Up Pin in service manual.
Maybe certain pulses goes there.
Pls keep replying in order to solve this problem cause i think that everyone maybe in my place some day.
Thank you
Sounds about right. Some late model cars are becoming equipt with coded radios that send the code from the bcm through a data line in the harness, i.e. late model GMs and hondas. So if by that, the only place you can work on it is in the car.

I have the same isue with BMW CD Player CD53 E46 as "johnyp" had (goes DISABLE when put it on the test bench, and I am trying to collect some Technical Information from BMW themself, I think it might have some wake up pin sent from the BCM or ECU to the unit to reactivate it back again if we know that code and the bus pin on the back of the unit then we are there!, this is what I am trying to track down , it would be much apprecaited if any body got into this matter
it probably won't funcion without the ibus. E46 and E39 and various others, have ibus. You can get a USB ibus adaptor and emulate the signal.
find the hacktheibus yahoo group, lots of info there.
