I hope you realize that my post wasn't all serious...hence the reason I put the number of emoticons in there.
I'm headed out to the garage now...to go add some more mass to the new pillars I'm building...already at 6.5 lbs each this morning. All for an ittly little 3" mid range and a tweeter....
btw - high end audio in a car is what I live for...that's why I jumped back into this conversation...
As I understand it, the point of running SPDIF in the car usually isn't to improve sound quality per se -- it's that you don't get alternator whine with a digital setup.
It improves it in that you don't have signal depredation or any interference in the signal line.
I guess it's the point that it's never really that you're IMPROVING the signal, it's that you're not letting it degrade any more.
Each pillar has 3 cups of sand mixed into the fiberglass and resin.
There's 3 lbs. of clay on each side as well.
The mounting baffle is made of 1/8" steel for these speakers.
We don't want an OUNCE of resonance in these pillars.
Don't the Auzentech X-tension Din, Prelude, and X-plosion offer SPDIF optical output that will go into an Alpine 701? Why not go that route?
Who are you talking to specifically SuperJ?
