SDPIF digital Coax into car audio pieces

Your original post. I'm not entirely familiar with the different connections but was actually logging on to research the H701 and it's input options to cure my current problems. From what I can tell the Azentech cards will interface directly with the H701 using their SPDIF Optical outs, if that's true why not use that option rather than the digital option?

You do realize that my original post was from back in 2005, right?

Also, my initial post was to try and clear up some confusion. Many people on here back then were using the terms SPDIF and Tos-Link interchangeably.

ANY sound card, or even nor many motherboard, with a tos-link output will work fine with the 701.

For the past 3 years, I've used a Tos-link cable from my motherboard to my 701.

There's really nothing special about it.

Haha, I didn't realize it was so old. I saw it at the top of the page and didn't think twice.

Did you notice a reduction in noise through the spdif and 701? I have a small amount of hdd noise I can't get rid of when the computer starts until the sound card kicks in....wondering if the spdif connection might get rid of that initial noise.

Actually, there's been some notice from people of more noise when using SPDIF. Unfortunately.

We do have some noice, but we've been able to reduce it by playing with the gain structure on our amps as well as the gain structure on the 701.

The 701 does have a noise gate though, which should take care your issue, no matter if you use digital or analog.

the spdif is not enough to avoid groundloop and noise, the source and dac should be isolated by optical cable, or line transformer / other isolator (ADuM,ISO IC) on coax cable... i think the best is the last, its a line transformer and operation amplifier x4 in a small wide SOIC package

the 10 mbit ADuM or 25 mbit ISO is fast enough for all spdif signal type...
