Nice find! Too bad no USB external version![]()
I know there's the perpetual debate about the best sounds card -- some like the Audigy series, others say they are very over-rated and over-specced. Regardless, there have been some very good pre-/reviews about the new X-Fi technology (either Extremetech or TomsHardware did a positive preview of this). At any rate, Creative, today, released the cards, ranging from $129.99 to 279.99. There are currently 4 different cards, and each card has 3 different "modes".. The different cards are XtremeMusic, Platinum, Fatal1ty FPS, and Elite Pro. You can read a quick preview at http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,1846033,00.asp (that article is from today).
Here is the official homepage for the new cards: http://www.soundblaster.com/products...troduction.asp
I post this because some reviews have called this Xfi technology to be breakthrough technology... The quantitative reviews from online sites (Extremetech, Tomshardware, PCmag, etc) should be forthcoming in the next week I would imagine.

Personally I do not want to make my music seem more vivid or the sound card adding in stuff that is not already there. I suppose that it is used to help over come the limitations of the generally crappy PC speakers out there.
Not many people hooking thier PC up to thier $8,000 Mcintosh home stereo systems otu there.
An in-depth article (with some tests) on the new X-Fi line from Creative is available at http://www.tomshardware.com/consumer...e_x-fi-01.html ... All reviews I read (including the one in that link) are incredibly favorable.
