I've been learking for about half a year but haven't posted yet....anyway I got my comp set up in my car and everything is great (runs perfect no amp poop no ground loops...thank good) but I do have one problem the output to my speakers is really low and I'm not sure exactly what it is I have some ideas but not positive.
1. I got a cheap amp to try and save money cus I'm on a tight budget....but I don't think that is the problem.
2. I'm still using stock speakers again to try and save money but I've never had a problem with them with my stock HU...so I don't think that would be the problem.
3. The line out/speaker jack on my computer isn't giving enough power.(that what I think it is.)
if it's #3 what could I do to fix that....I don't need it to be REALY load cus I don't listen to music that load but right now I can't hear the music very well on the highway going 70+ due to ground noise (and my exhaust isn't that quiet either)

I think he is using stock speakers.
Yep I am
are you sure the plugs in all the way? What kinda rca to 1/8" converter are you using. Some of the ones i've seen (from radioshack) suck ***.
check that your output levels in your control panel on your pc are correct
I think your wave volume will be low
and your software is probably controlling master volume or the other way around, check it out, my first install 18months ago had this, I soon learnt to check this first
Nano ITX / 512 MB / 60 GB / Panasonic slot load / M1-ATX / Bu303 / Sound blaster 24 / PPi amps / rockford sub
yep it's in all the way that was my first guess.....and I am useing one from radio shack (that was cheap) but I don't think that's my problem cus I tried it on my desktop going to my home theartor and it sounds fine.Originally Posted by Sonicxtacy02
If your talking about the volume controls (volume wave, synth, cd player, line in) everything is maxed to 100%Originally Posted by SAScooby
thanks for all the help any other thoughts?? I've done a little reading and a standard sound card puts out 2.2V while a standard HU puts out about 5V and it looks like I need a line driver but I'm not sure if anyone has any experiance with one let me know.
well i noticed with roadrunner frontend, that at first it wasn't controlling the volume that i wanted, i played with it, set it to do the master volume, i set wave volume to 100%, and master at 85 or 90% then i pushed up the mixer volume... which is winamps volume until it was basically as loud as i'd ever want it, then it worked great, sound isn't as good when u have winamp volume maxed and then turn master up and down i didn't find, but that fixed my quiet sound issue, but i also run straight to amps
What about the gain on your amp too? I know you found a solution but that could be something to check aswell
my gain is at about 1/3 of the way up...if I go any higher I start to get a lot of distortion.Originally Posted by FyreDaug
