your ground size wire has to be the same as the power wire so if your power wire is 4ga then your ground has to be 4ga to
I am trying to fix this engine wine problem I have.
I am going to ground inverter(400 watt),computer (Shuttle Pc),7"monitor,head unit, sirius radio to 1 grounding block.
My question is what size grounding wire should I use for all that? I was thinking 4ga. or should i use 1/0?
What do you think?
Thanks for the response.Originally Posted by heuninck
I understand that.. but I do not have just 1 wire I have multiple wires going to the grounding block
Then the grounding block will be attached to the chasis with 1 single wire but I am trying to find out what size wire to attach to the chasis to use for all this.
The inverter is 8ga,ground for the computer case,mb, power supply etc?...head unit think is 14ga,sirius radio think is 16 or 18ga,monitor think is 16 or 18 ga also
so with the 18ga inverter wire, 1 14ga head unit wire, what ever i need to ground the computer case, and the other multiple 16-18ga wires would 4ga be ok or should I go with 1/0 wire
just use 1/0 and be safe....a short section of 1/0 won't put you back that much, just make sure that your grounding block can take 1/0...
never hurts to over size your wire and your local welding shop should sell 1/0 by the ft and if your dist block will not handle 1/0 we have used 2 4ga in to the dist. block just remember to clean your grounding to the car really good and dont over fuse your equipment
