I have a Pioneer DEH-P4600MP (not installed yet).
My understanding is if you have the IP-Bus input (little square) which is originally for a CD-Changer, you can get off ebay for ~$15 an AUX in, I just ordered mine.
hi, ive read many articles on here for the aux in hack for pioneer head units. Will it work for the DEH-1600?
thanks!
if it does work, will i have to do that button trick? where i push certain buttons to reprogram the aux in-and if so, what is it?
thanks alot!!
eric

The pionner aux input uses the cd players cd changer port. From what I can tell about your headunit it does not support a cd changer. You can upgrade your headunit to a newer pioneer that supports aux in or you can use a 4ch amp. One note that i should mention is that all pioneer headunits that I know of that can use aux in only play out of the rear speakers in aux mode. I have a deh-3600 that i just took out of my car because of it only playing out the back speakers. And I have 4 other friends with various pioneer Hu's that do the same. Hope that helps
There is one more option. (Well two). FM modulators. You can get a wireless (****ty IMO) or wired. The downside to a wired is basically you turn your antenna into a line-in. Now I don't know if any out there offer the ability to switch between Aux IN and radio but worth a look.
And Jcarere, that doesn't sound right at all I am going to call wiring problems or something. Never heard of that before, I guess we'll see when I wire mine up =D

My buddy just bought a pionner head unit. Dont know the model number but payed over 200 bucks for it. And it had built in aux inputs and not the ip bus input and his only plays out of the rear speakers.
He tried to return it and the people at circut city said thats what all the pioneers aux inputs do.
Good luck with your adapter and I hope urs works better than the ones in my experience
Word from a buddy who does stereo installs is that he has never heard of that before (and IIRC he works for CC too) but I guess we will see this week as I do mine =D

If there's a 'P' in the model number you'll have a cd changer port where you can get an adapter to get aux in. For example..all the DEH-P* models have cd changer ports. Most DEH models without the P will not have a cd changer port thus no ability to have/add aux in.
