Here is socket B. I really dont plan on fiddling with this one as its just outputs, power, etc.

This is the back of the stock headunit...

You can see where the audio outputs are. The j525 "control module" it talks about is the amp. This should work as long as the CAN-BUS coming from the stereo has nothing to do with the CAN-BUS going into te amp. I dont think it does. I think it is mostly for security and diagnositic purposes.

I think the only thing that might fail on me here is the volume level. Well see though. AND PS... Ive already cut into the cars wiring. I used the power lines that were going to the stock headunit to now power the PC... which is actually a whole other problem in its own... as THE CARS computer likes to shut off power to the MY COMPUTER 20 mins after use is the computer is started while the car is off. This is so the radio wouldnt kill the battery. No biggy... but the only way I can turn it back on is to pop the fuse!

Hmm. Not sure on this but I think you want use the A Socket connections "xxx signal input". I would definately use a wiring harness adaptor, something like this (for the previous Jetta I think)

I cant use that harness nor do I need it. I no longer have the stock headunit. Just the wires from the amp that plugged into the headunit. And yes... I will be using those input wires. Those are the ones I wanted to connect to my PCs audio out.

Nope. Dosent work. Im guessing that maybe te amp dosent turn on unless the stock headunit is on... and since Ive got no stock headunit its not gonna kick on

So back to an inverter and pc speakers until I can figure out how to get an aftermarket amp plugged in.

What was the last known working configuration? Did you just have the factory radio or did you have an aftermarket unit working?

The Wiring Harness adaptor I mentioned was to change the vehicle connector (manufacturer specific) into an ISO connector (generic), speaking from a british perspective. I'm not sure if you use the same system in the US. The main advantage of this is the wires are all clearly identifiable as it's a standard plug, so any amplifier remote turn-on lead will become apparent.

I realise you have a new Jetta, the link was only meant as an example.

Is this the Monsoon amp? If so, read this thread. Post #81 in that thread is the "ah-ha! moment", post #136 is a wiring diagram.

The deal is that the Monsoon doesn't have a normal remote turn on input like most aftermarket amps. It's turn on signal is 5V to the "Front Left -" input. Yes really. You apply 5V to the front left negative input line of the monsoon amp and it turns on. See the thread for details.

Nope. The new Jetta's do not have Monsoon. In the new Jettas most everything is controlled by the cars computer via Can-Bus. Im gonna see if I can find someone with a VAG-COM in my area who can help me find a way to get power to this thing without the headunit in place.

You can use that adapter. The one he linked you to attaches to the harness, not the radio. Those bare speaker wires would be the ones you would use for the speaker level input to your amp. Also, you might want to look at using a line output converter. There usually used to convert speaker level output of a factory radio to RCA signal level. Possibly they can be used backwards? Then you wouldn't need to cut up any wiring. The signal flow would be: PC--> 1/8" stereo to RCA cable--> Line out converter--> Wiring harness--> car wiring--> factory amp. Also, you may want to look in yout manual for some sort of remote turn on lead that the factory radio used to turn the amp on.

I know this is different than the VW, but i achieved line-out --> 8 channel by using the peripheral electronics sven 4. Basically did line-out, split that into 4 RCAs, then connected that to the sven. Then that connected to the factory harness.

I didn't read the whole thread, so this may or may not help. Just wanted to give my .02.
