i need help with this please ?!

i am trying to utilize a microcontroller to interface with a car head unit, i would like to use a usb jump drive to transfer data from a pc to use to play in the car, i am trying to use the usb jump drive route instead of actually using a hard drive inside the car. so basically i am trying to build a ipod adapter for a stock car headunit but instead just trying to use a usb jump drive. which microcontroller would be best for my needs and what would i be using to interface the car radio to the microcontroller board? i2c?

    thanks in advance

From the looks of it, you look like you're lost and no one here wants to help steer you in the right direction. I'm not going to be much help toward your project but I'll tell you why you havent seen anyone attepmt this project. It sounds like you are trying to hammer a square peg through a round hole. Unless you have the skills, time, and money to create such a thing, then by all means go ahead. Otherwise quit while you are ahead.
There are multiple issues with the type of project you're trying to create, such as:
    1. How will it interface with the stock radio?
    2. Construction-
    A. How to interface your microcontroller with a jump drive, USB.
    B. How will you control the tracks
    3. Sound-
    A. You will also need a DSP to convert the digital data of the songs into analog waveform. That will require either additional hardware and/or software.
    4. Will you also need a display for the song information.
    A. Even some iPod to factory addaptors cannot display track information

Like Jahntassa posted before, you might as well get an mp3 player because all of that has been designed for you. Unless you can find an mp3 player that accepts a USB jump drive port as its memory, then you are more than halfway to completion.
Its not that bad of an idea, But a hard sell. My one suggestion to you is to toss out this project you have in mind and pick up a new headunit that already has USB jump drive support, i.e. insignia has a cd/radio with a USB port.

I agree with pancit, that's not a good project to be undertaking... significantly too complex to be worthwhile. Just buy an existing jump drive MP3 player to get the audio output, and then you only have to interface the audio with the head unit, which is easy if it has an aux input. I've seen other similar USB flash drive MP3 players out there also, so you should have several to pick from.
But don't take it from me! here's a quote from a real, live newbie:
