Your Planning seems about right, except I'd do it all at once, one swift blow, that way you dont second think things and decide to save money here by going a cheaper route, just do it all at once.
Ladies and Gentlemen, Hello.
My name is Tim, and I am that lowest of Internet
lifeform, The Lurker.
Hanging around for a number of months, staying in
the background, leeching off information,
contributing nothing, finally speaking up only
when something is needed.
Yeah, that's me. <sigh>. Don't hate me...
Quickly, I'm the cliche middle-aged white guy.
Overweight, bald, dead end job,
can't quite quit smoking,
can't drink the way I used to.
Thank the gods I have a killer wife, otherwise
I'd have probably committed suicide years ago.
Oh, and I like music.
Predomanently rock and roll. Give it whatever
labels you want. If it has a melody and a lead
break, chances are I'll listen to it. If it's 40
years old or 40 hours old.
Some prog.
Classical/Orchestra when the mood hits me.
Jazz that approaches Rythym and Blues.
The important stuff:
I have a 2005 Toyota Matrix, base, with the stock
4 speakers and iffy head unit. And I'm replacing
them.
For the past 6 months or so I've been researching
and planning the sound system upgrade.
Step 1. Head unit.
Step 2. Save money.
Step 3. Components.
Step 4. Save more money.
Step 5. Amp.
Step 6. No poofters.
Step 7. Save even more money.
Step 8. Amp2 and sub.
Or something close to that.
I have the money for the head unit saved and ready
to spend. I have narrowed down my choices to a
couple, and will be asking for people's opinions
soon.
It's going to be a slow process. I started saving
for the head last Christmas. Hopefully the cash
for the components won't take another 9 months.
With my tastes, however, it probably will.
Finally, not only am I the despised lurker, I'm
about to do something that is entirely against good netiquette.
Cross posting.
I'll be posting this on about 5 different car
audio forums.
So, if you see me multiple times, sorry.
That's all. Thanks for reading. I'll be back to
pester all of you for help, input and opinions.
C-me,
Tim.

From my experience, if you ask 10 people how to do something, you will get 11 different answers. And your cross posting to 4 other forums....I wouldnt want to try to make a decision after all that! Good luck![]()

Thanks for the welcome, Guys!!
I'm afraid trying to wait until I have enough cash to buy the works will
postpone the purchase for years!! I have a couple of reasons for
taking the multi-step route. Don't worry about me cheaping out.
I'm going serious on the a$$ of this upgrade!
gospeed, I've kind of made my decision. One of the things I'm going
to be doing is seeing if you guys can reasonably sway my decision.
Hopefully my next post will make things a bit clearer.
Again, thanks for the welcome!!
C-me,
Tim.
Oooopppsss!!!
No there is not!!
My apologies. I apparently stumbled into the wrong area,
and did not examine the rules closely enough.
Sorry to take up your time.
I'm am outta here.
C-me,
Tim.
lol huh? How could you have lurked and not noticed that this site is based upon people using carputers?! You seem nice enough, but that's just silly! Stick around man, throw a carputer in there!

Where is the rule that says you can't be on this board and not have a carputter??? This site is called mp3car. If you've been around long enough you'd know that the original mp3cars were cars with mp3-cd players in them and rio players with cassette adapters. It's about playing MP3's in your car. I think it's pretty rude you told this guy who only wanted help to go away just because he had no intention of installing a computer into his car.
Adam, read the posts slower, move your lips if it helps.... no one told Tim to leave. In fact, he was bidded to stay.
