search for headless as a keyword or HU less.
There are many peps run HU less.
I am looking for some input from people running their carputer straight to an amp. I am considering removing the head unit to make room for the touch screen, but I am a little hesitant to get rid of the head unit. The reasons are: I have XM currently with my head unit, the radio is simiple and doesn't require software to run(therefor no bugs). So any input from people who have or are currently running this setup would be great.
Thanks
Todd

as long as you dont mind losing am/fm for the time being it's great. As long as you get your system setup correctly and you don't mess with it you'll be happy and trouble free.

I had a HU-less system. I recently purchased a new vehicle and have begun re-designing with no plans to take my stock hu out again.

I've had no problems with my setup. Running straight from the USB Sound Blaster to my Kicker amp and running loud and clear. I don't really miss the am/fm but getting fm to work is still in my to-do list. As far as XM goes from what I've read around here it is fairly straight forward to get it working with the pc, I'm a Sirius fan so I have not tried it myself, hopefully now that there is a Sirius interface for the pc I'll be able to get it running on mine.

I have no problems either with my HUless setup. The stock radio with integrated single cd player couldn't read MP3's, so I couldn't wait to get rid of it. I have a WinTVFM card, so I still get FM. I think the WinTV card gets better FM reception than my stock radio did, using the same stock antenna.
Where did you get your card?Originally Posted by Strgazr

Any help is appreciated, when I google it, almost all of the sites are overseas.
I have a Dolby 5.1 surround card running to two amps, a four channel for front and rear left/right and a two channel for sub/centre, it's a bit overkill for music but when your watching DVD's it's like owning your own small scale cinema.
As for radio, i listen to it all day at work so i don't miss it in the car.
USB fm radio if you must, what soundcard you using?Originally Posted by 2FastMR2
