Unless specified by the manual for the amp, you cannot assume that the amp will turn on without a remote wire hooked up. Most amps dont function without a remote wire. You should hook up the line to a switched(with key "on") and fused line. The cig lighter may be a place to do so, but i'd like to go to the remote line behind the radio with a fuse inline whenever possible, ideally with a relay because some of those lines are not equipt to handle much current.
