    Link?

And yes it WILL work , trust me , Ive been doing this since a long time (late 2002). Its a cheap way to have a "carputer". If you want to invest more, then you can get a bigger screen , a wireless controller , install a start/shut controller , get a modchip with character LCD support and install the lcd in your dash and get a dc-dc power supply.......

    You have lots of possibilities.

K I went to Best Buy and Future Shop twice to look at Ipods and I just dont like them at all. I hate that it seems so convenient to go that route. My biggest concern is the ability to navigate, say 60GB of music from a HU linked to an Ipod. Pioneer has this HU http://www.bestbuy.ca/catalog/prodde...on=&langid=EN# (sorry) and it has a "unique" all in one dial. With or without that dial, how you're able to browse the music is the one thing that will make or break any type of set up that allows you to have 60GB or more music in the car.

Originally I thought about getting a laptop. Considering the price of a HU plus a 60GB Ipod *puke* it would be even cheaper to go the laptop route. What could be better to browse your music than WMP or Winamp?

Those are basically the thoughts that got me started on my car pc project. I bought my gf an ipod for Christmas and it seemed cool to be able to have all your music with you. I bought a new PC for my home office and I ended up installing it in my living room and connecting it to my stereo and my projector(what I use for my tv). I listen to all my music at home through WMP.

I was getting ready to put a new HU in my car and upgrade the sound system. I started doing research and I came across this web site

I immediately thought - wow it would be amazing to have something like my home set up in my car! It makes even more sense in your car than at home - you don't have to carry a box of cd's around with you and dig through them to hear a song. You just press a couple off buttons and listen to anything you want.

So I started spending hours and hours reading this forum and ended up buying a cheap laptop and 7" vga/lcd/ts screen. Everything is working great and I am just about ready to install in my car.

In all honesty though this project has taken 10x the time and effort I expected and 2x the money I planned - But I am still glad I found this site and decided to do this.

Whatever you decide to do - best of luck!

Stick around the buy/sell/trade forums and get a cheap setup or laptop with broken (or no) screen and a 7". I don't think you'll regret it.

Oh yeah, piece of advice numbers 2 and 3:
    2) Only go with sellers with lots of refs, who have done lots of business here (eBay feedback is okay too, but they could still screw you here).

    3) Only pay by paypal.. money orders aren't secure, and you can get pwned, unless you track them down like CarTunes did,
