Definitely can't argue the tunability. But if all your after is a digital link, it's a good solution for $300.

The DVC920 controls the DVH940 -- it's just a little thing that can be stuck just about anywhere -- I'm planning to integrate it into my bezel...

I'll start up a new thread this evening.

Here's the link again -- all it talks about is cutting/modding the optical cable.
    Maybe it'll work this way.

Does anyone know where to find an IR reciever for the Hifonics/autotek remotes? i have tried 3 different (not hifonics) recievers with no luck.

Any help is very appreciated. i have a hifonics ZX5.1 amp.

    thanks in advance,

I guess then it's just a slimmed down version of the alpine.

when it was mentioned that you don't have to use a HU to controll it, I was taking that to mean that you don't have to use an external anything to controll it. It sounds identical to the alpine in this regard, it just needs a controller to use it, not a head unit.

for the price, I'd say it's a great find for some one who wants a little less than what the alpine offers.

was that 300 price mentioned MSRP/retail/ or used?

might want to start a new thread to ask this kind of question, it would get a lot more views than someone reading through a few pages of this thread....

    lol @ "all-digital" amp.

all digital is not intended for long signal runs, so much as to avoid excessive D > A > D > A etc conversions. A cd is digital. active crossovers are mostly digital. so if you run RCAs from your HU to a crossover, thats 4 conversions right there, loss of quality. I'll run RCAs to my amps against anyone, anyday, and you won't be able to hear an audible difference. DACs and ADCs (to a much lesser extent) are where the SQ losses are. On that same note, you're probably better off running analog if you have a good sound card. You *might* not be able to hear the difference, but on anyhting but the high amps, your sound card will probably output the nicer analog signal.

as far as the performance teknique, its a flea market brand, but im pretty sure its based off hifonics. The design is the same, and they make a lot of identical amps (as in power ratings). I ran a few diferent models. I'd never run digital to one, but power for the dollar, they are a good deal. My friend bought my 600W off me, and its still running strong after 5 years total, and its not being babied at all. I dunno if I'd run them for my front stage (go used instead), but for subs, they're a killer deal

I dont understand the point you're trying to make with this statement? Are you saying that YOUR set-up will sound better? I just don't get it....

Sure, a pure digital amp probably won't sound the best, but quite honnestly, most of the people here wouldn't know the difference. This thread is about finding an amp that will allow an input direct from a computer without the need for something else inbetween, this amp seems to be that solution, and quite honnestly the only viable one....IF it can be found that is...lol

So, the DVH940 takes input directly from the PC via the optical port (Toslink) once you make one of those connectors. Then, carries the analog signal to an amp to get powered up, and sent out to speakers. Fully independant, only receiving a signal from the PC.

Is that correct? If so, this is the route I'm going.
