This one looks very promising as well. Same deal with 5x50W (which is perfect for my stock Infinity speakers), and doesn't appear to NEED any additional parts, except for maybe the accessory controller. Check it out:

the P8000 (IIRC) is the step up from the 7650....someone correct me?

the 8000 has high pass and low pass x-overs, and a parametric EQ....worth the extra $$, I'd think so

I just sat on the phone with Pioneer installs, and they said the optical input is their own proprietary connection. He said it's very similar to the standard TOSLINK, but you would need to run a Pioneer DVD source to get the 5.1. I hate that!!!

    From the manual:

This unit provides two optical inputs, however, units that can be connected to each input are limited.

OK, I'm looking at the manual, and I see a couple different "optical" connections/devices. It looks to me like the plug on the decoder/amp side is standard, but the connector on the front end side (DVD player, navigation, etc) is the "proprietary" connector. Thoughts?

another question would be: would it work without the IPBus connector? I'm still planning to run HU-less...
