    Yes

    You know it
That technical readout looks correct. I'm going to try re-soldering the wires this Thurs/Fri when I'm off work.

Now, in terms of the connections; can I solder the wires from the one connector directly into the other connector's wires?

That is the only one thing I still need to ascertain. I could try the male/female connector idea but I'm not 100% on the subject.

I think just mapping out which wires connect to which inside the connectors, then cutting the connectors and putting them together/soldering them together should work. But isw there anything additional I need to know; like are there connectors for a reason? Is there a certain resistance required for the circuit to function?

This is something I don't know. Please, if you're going to say things like I have a poor attitude, or tell me to go to my Ford Dealership and pay a few thousand bucks to get it fixed, just keep it to yourself. I've already heard it, thank you. To the people supplying me with wiring diagrams and especially that male/female connector idea, you guys rock

you technically *can* just solder the wires without the connectors, but it makes a much cleaner setup if there is a connector. Plus then you can wire the unit on the bench instead of in the car where its very hard to see. I would still try to find a wrecking yard with the proper connector...eatc cars are not that rare! At least here anyway. If its worth doing, its worth doing right

    Yeah...

I've called a lot of different scrapyards around where I live in ontario, CA. I'm likely going to try soldering the wires together in the car, thanks though for all your help.

Personally, I would use connectors. Like SpeedRacer said, it is much easier to do the work on the bench then trying to solder up by the dashboard. Also, if you need to take it apart later for any reason, you'll thank yourself.

    Good Luck

    Too many pins

I was going to pickup the connectors today and try sauldering up a male and female connector, but I just picked up the harness to compare it to the wiring diagram and the diagram has 26 pins while this one only has 20. It has 10 on the top and 10 on the bottom; what should I do now? I tried to compare the schematic to the harness and the wiring colors aren't matching up in the right pins either.

I took a look at the replacement harness I got which was the wrong one, that one has 16 pins, 8 top 8 bottom...

is there another schematic which has 20 pins? if I had that I could fix this

Here is an Air Conditioning schematic for your 2002 Ford Taurus. There was two options on this model, Manual A/C or Automatic A/C. This schematic is for Automatic A/C.

It shows what looks like a 26 pin connector. I hope this is what you need.

    Yeh

This looks more like it; I'll likely buy the generic male and female connectors and try soldering a new connector up to the correct pins using this diagram. All I need are two generic 26 pin connectors

Um, what he posted is a different drawing ( mine is from Ford's website) of exactly what I posted in the .pdf ....so are you saying you DO have a 26 pin shell, or a 20 pin? Cause his drawing shows the same 26 pin unit. I dont see how you could have a 20 pin connector as they dont exist in my research.

oh yeah, and his color codes are exacltly the same as what mine showed- so if they are not lining up with mine, how can they line up with his?

I am having a feeling this is better left to a dealership. If you cant read a schematic it is not a good idea to try to wire it up without some proper help.

    20 pins

The harness is 20 pins on the back; the front looks kinda odd like it has more then 20 but it is 20 pins.

You dont have another diagram of 20 pins?
