    Lightning Audio amps... any good?

    Hey!

I'm looking at one of their 4-channel models. Can't remember the model number off the top of my head. Anyone used these amps or heard anything about them? Just curious, never messed much with amps before. Thanks!

I cant say I know their reliablity because I dont own one. but I've heard they are very solid, and nice amps all around. I know they are commonly used for show vehicles.

not BAD...per se....if you like a cheaper version of rockford....

keep in mind that just because it's used in a show vehicle doesn't mean jack....typically what makes it into a show vehicle is what ever product is thrown at the installers/owner of the vehicle for free...

usually - the higher end companies don't do that kind of thing...and if they do, it's on a very limited basis

    just some food for thought

In the realm of high SQ car audio they are crap. But it all depends on the system. You could be running McIntosh amps and they won't do you any good if they are powering Pyramid coaxles.

I've got the monoblock version on a pair of Sony Xplod subs..and it's decent. Not GREAT. But definitely decent for the cost. If you're making a system to just enjoy for yourself, it should be fine. But if you're going for any sort of show..eh..probably not.

Thanks for the replies! Nope, not planning to do any sort of shows. I'm just looking for something to power my Eclipse speakers in my car, doesn't need to be great.

What 4-channel amps would you guys recommend? I've heard Soundstreams are pretty good as well.

    Thanks again!

if you've got eclipse speakers do them some justice and get a decent amp

soundstream is a good amp, but so are alpine, jl, arc audio, etc...

    Cool, I'll check those out.

By any chance, are there any amps out there with optical (digital) input(s)? I'm just thinking that the digital out from my carputer soundcard would be sweet to go directly to the amp. Just curious.

try a search on that topic, grab a cold one and sit for a while....because they are all over the place.....and no - the amps themselves are far and few between
