what does anyone have to say about the alpine type x

The Alpine X stuff is their top of the line.

We saw several cars at world finals with that sub in it. I'd probably compare it to a JL W6V2 or a W7 in terms of quality. It should be a pretty darn nice sub!

Is that what you are looking at for your car? What amp are you looking to push it?

heh - thanks - finally graduated from college and moved and have a new job...so I should have a LOT of free time on my hands (currently installing a stereo system in a golf cart...lol)

It really depends on the type of car, proper enclosure, power, and other componets to your system.

I installed subs in my first system and they completly drowned out my mids, and highs because they were so loud and it was a crappy car so vibration was a big issue.

Older cars can't handle systems well because of the batteries/alternator and vibrations. If you plan to install it in an older car make sure you have good mids, and highs too, and a tight sound dampening system in place so it sounds quality.

I have two alpine type Rs as 300 watts RMS and two rear 6x9s at 150 rms and two front speakers at 75watts RMS, and it is a pretty quality casual listening system (albiet expensive for casual) it has lasted a long time. Don't go all out on subs and ignore the other parts because noobs just mention I have two 15s at blah blah because they don't know what they're talking about.

what crydee mentions is true - I will also mention that I (or anyone who knows a bit of what they are talking about) could post up a thread about a million pages long about subs and systems in general. The trick when it gets down to it is to just use good equipment. Don't skimp on any part of it, amps, speakers, RCAs, etc. But that's a different thread all together.

well yes i have bought an alpine type x 12 in woofer i bought a jl audio 500/1 amp to power it all is going to be connected with kicker amplifier wiring kit

what you guys think

Type X's are great! I'm working to try and afford some by the end of this school year. You wont be dissapointed.

What type of enclosure are you using?
