Check the sub with an ohm meter. see if you have continuity thought the voice coil or coils.

At least the dip****s at Ultimate Electronics giving you the wrong impedance sub didn't cost you a blown $400 amp.
the name of my sub is an alpine type x 12 inch
rms 1000
peak 3000
im going to flip out
where the heck would i buy a tool to detect if the sub is even working or not or if i got a faulty sub
on your amp, does it have an input light? or some light that lights up to the music? if so, check to see if that is getting signal, maybe replace the alpine sub with another sub or speaker (be careful not to over power a regular speaker) and see if you get a signal. You might have some wires flipped around on the amp. also, the amp might be set on a certain setting that may be inhibiting the output of the line going ot the sub... let me know if you need some help!

Its called an ohm meter. Available with any multimeter purchase. Try radio shack.Originally Posted by chitown_16
Test the subs impedence. If its less than ~3.5you may have an issue. Check the sub and see if it says 4 ohms or 2 ohms on the basket. What ever the ohm reading is should be close to that number
If it stays infinite when you check it, you have a dead speaker. if it reads near zero, you have a blown sub that will destroy most amps.
Good luck!
check fuses.
