how do you wire car if no acc+ line is present?

how do you tap into the ignition wire when there's no acc+ line in the harness to the stereo? i need to get a lead from the fuse to the head unit, but i don't know how to test it. there's a lot of things that turn on when you turn the key, and i don't know how to figure out which one is the ignition.

Look in the vehicle's owners manual. It should have a diagram of the fuse panel, including the ones that are controlled by IGN and the ones that aren't.
Many vehicles have a diagram near the fuse panel on a sticker or on the fuse panel cover.
Have you looked in the FAQ yet?

i hope you're kidding, did you read the first part?

i tried getting into the ignition wire by the fuse panel, but it's 12v on one side, and 0 v on the other side, therefore, when you put the fuse in it "completes" the circuit. so, it's a constant 12v, then it goes into the ignition. how do you wire it?

What kind of car is it (I'm assuming a few year old GM car of some sort) If I know what car I can tell you where exactly to find the wire your looking for (year and model)

I'm a fan of going to the ignition harness rather than a fusepanel

it's an 06 passat, no wiring harness made yet, no wiring diagrams i can find. have a double din head unit, doesn't fit properly, they redid the head unit so it's an oversized hole, more than double din. no info available on the wiring harness. if you read the first post i had you'd know i tried the acc+ in the harness. i used a voltmeter to the wires and the when the numbers are the same, key in or out, it's the same wire. the numbers don't change. i need to get this finished by tomorrow afternoon, i'm not new to installing new headunits with proper harnesses. i know the color codes, i just don't know how to wire to the ignition switch directly. sorry to be a dick, but please post with relevant info. i'm looking to wire into the ignition and don't know how to do it to the fuse box. the fuse box is less than a 2 feet away from the stereo. and the ignition has 8-10 wires coming out of it, so i don't know which one is the accessory wire. thx

Use your voltmeter to find a fuse location that turns on and off with the ignition. Go to Radio Shack and buy some fuse taps.
Install them on the other side of the fuse (the downstream side).
