    Engine Whine w/ iPod

I get engine whine through my speakers when I connect my Belkin car charger to my iPod while it is playing through my headphone to rca cables to my headunit. Sometimes I get noise rather then engine whine though (no change to the system). The car charger is just the simple cirgeratte lighter to iPod adapter. Actually I drive a 2002 Grand Prix GT so there is a cig lighter and an adapter and the problem is the same usually for each.

I do have a Panasonic CQ-8300U, and my 2 rear 6x9s on an amp at 100rmsx2 amp, and 2 12" alpines getting 300 rms each from an amp. I do have a capacitor that also acts as a distrubtion block for both amps, so I think I wouldn't have a problem with power. Whenever I listen to it from the iPod it sounds crisp and clear. When I hook up the charger to the iPod while listening from it I get engine whine (depending on the RPM) or noise sometimes (from back speakers where the amp is hooked up only to those).

Any clues, or do I need to supply more info? I was looking into a adapter that plugs into the rca from my adapter of the iPod to the reciever that has a built in noise filter or something but I don't know if that would get rid of engine whine.

the ipod adapters aren't known for their quality. FM mod or plugged directly in, they all suck.

The monster cable one isn't any better. I've got friends with both of them, and they BOTH cause problems. Every time I've heard them in any car in any system, they all do it, some worse than others.

This is just when the iPod is being charged it causes problems. Using RCA Aux-in cables where the source comes from any MP3 player I hook up to always sounds fine.

Thanks I'll get an inline ground loop isolator for the aux in port on the back of my headunit where the iPod plugs in.

Hmm i had a very similar problem at first with my ipod charger. It went away after i tossed my stock headunit and installed my amps, eq, etc. So probably not anything wrong with the ipod or the charger. But your situation could be different.
