low amp fuse blowing in MX radio adaptor

    Hello,

Here is the problem, My new MX radio (Roady Xt) cig adaptor keeps blowing fuse (5v adaptor 2amp glass fuse). Cig lighter work fine, I have no problems with 15a fuse in fuse box.

I decided to check voltage with mutitestor registered 12v-14v same as my parents truck. They also have an MX radio (Roady 2) which works perfectly in their vehicle. I decided to switch both of them, theirs to my car it also blew the fuse and my radio worked perfectly in truck.

Father in law suggested to try his work light which connects to cig lighter, it worked fine the adaptor end uses a 12a glass fuse.

Has anyone had similar problem with low amp fuse adaptors?
Need help / suggestion to resolve this problem

Make sure that the polarity of your cigarette lighter hasn't been changed somehow.

Make sure that the "pin" is positive, and the "shield" is negative. Otherwise, IT MAKES NO SENSE.

P.S. The light might work because it is not polarity sensitive, but the XM (not MX) radio IS polarity sensitive.
