Griffin Powermate is what you seek.
Maybe somebody as done this before, but I just couldnt find any info.
My idea is to hav a small volume knob next to my touchscreen.Connected to the CarPC trough USB or serial .
But I just don't now what kind of knob to use.
Does somebody know if such a knob can be bought of do I need to made one my self??
Griffin Powermate is what you seek.
Old Systems retired due to new car
New system at design/prototype stage on BeagleBoard.
The Powermate is an excellent choice as you can do a lot more with it than just volume control. 2 things though. It's somewhat expensive. It's big so you may not be able to stick it next to your monitor.
Beside that, you have 2 more options.
1. Hack a mouse wheel button (not an optical one). Search this forum for that. There's several threads on this.
2. Buy a cheapass USB keyboard that has a volume knob then hack it.
Phidgets USB encoder.

This is just what I was looking for. Now the idea is not only to control the volume whit one button, but also to control the fader (front and reare sound)whit a second one.
Don't know if this last will be possible but it's just an idea.
There was an mr2 spider install which used two knobs. Search for that one![]()
I just did, but couldn't find anything![]()
