Both those speakers sound great. You really have to go listen for yourself to decide.
I'm looking for some components & sub for my car. Looking at the focal 165a vs the diamond audio d661a. Since everyone has different ideas of better can someone tell me what the strengths of each is. It appears by numbers tha the DA's will have stronger bass but could have harsh highs. Any suggestions for 6.5" speakers in the same price range is also welcomed.
For subs I'm looking to go sealed custom box. The max volume will be around .25ft3. Can the DA d308d2 or focal 21v2 work. I know the RF punch2 will work down to .15. Any suggestions here?
what is your price range?
focal makes a kick *** speaker, but their low end is on par with MANY others out there...their high end on the other hand, STOMPS on many others out there
the K2 Power series from Focal kicks butt, if you can save up some extra cash, I would DEFFINATELY go with it over just about anything out there...
what kind of music do you listen to and what are you trying to acchieve with this system?
What is your price range? If it is around $200, I can highly recommend CDT EF-61's. I just bought a pair and they sound amazing. Incredibly clear highs and tons of midbass. These are probably THE best speakers for the price range. The EF's are in between their high end HD's and their low end CL's. The tweeter is smooth as well....do a search and see what others have to say about em...
- SrCsTc's Bezel
- Alpine W200/H701
- ED Nine.2X
- OZ Matrix Elites
- ED Nine.1
- Idmax 12's
I'm looking to spend about $200. I guess $300 is it would make a big difference. Mostly I listen to rnb, rap, jazz, reggea, latin. I just enjoy good speakers. mainly I'm looking for some really bad *** sounding system to match the looks of the car. If I can get away with no sub then i would like to go that route. I currently have mb quartz in another car and they are ok. no real bass out put.
When you here my system I want a "that sounds good man"
Look into DLS. The DLS UP6 component set is awesome. There is a reason DLS owns a huge portion of the competition circuit market, they are awesome. Finding a dealer can be rough. Focal and DA are just too dam* bright for me, I like natural and accurate.
you really can't have a good all around system without a good sub...that sub may only play 40Hz and below (as it does in MANY pro cars), but out on the road, that sub makes all the difference in the world...and no, it doesn't have to be blaringly loud to make a difference
note: there are quite a few pro cars that don't even run the sub that's in their car for SQ comps, but these cars also don't see the streets, and that's where the lower frequencies will be drowned out, and thus the reason I believe you need a sub to complete a well rounded system
and what kind of car are we talking about here?
91 mr2. I would like a sub but i don't lose any of the leg room putting it behind the seat. Thats the reason the box is going to be so small. i was actually looking at the space (storage box) the other day and I might be able to build something to get even more volume for the sub. so what sub and components would you suggest for a good match? The k2 power are out because of price.
you would only need a small sub, a good, REALLY solid 8 would give you what you want and have a small enclosure with it...
as for the sub....I really don't like to get into recomending, so many people have different listening habits, they like to hear differnt things in music....I could say this or that were good and someone else will come in here and bash those brands and pitch what they like.
there are so many brands out there, the best thing I can say is to stick to some name brands
btw - I'm selling a set of JL seperates - asking 225 shipped, new in the box
A good JL 8 would be a great match...
all in all, just stick with a good brand and you can't really go wrong
I just looked at the JL site. The 6" almost looks like it might do. I would have to do some calculations for box volume. It definitely would be easier to hind the box with the 6" I don't think you'd be able to even tell looking at the car. Also I could use a nice 4 ch amp and still get the power bridged to easily drive it.
I think I'm going to go find a store that has them to hear alittle something.
This is how it started in college and I ended up with taking my room over with bass. ha ha. that was great it used to shake the whole complex (literally). i wish i had a meter that read high enough to measure my spl.
