You need to know a lot more than that...like what sub you have for example along with its specifications and recommended box sizes...I believe there are programs that will allow you to input your brand of subwoofer and help you design the box.
was advised to get rid of the band pass and build ported.... can someone guide me the best way to accomplish this... is it as simple as building box 22X15X18 then putting 4 inch port in it???? thanks in advance

It would be best to just build a box according to manufacturers reccommendations. So check the papers that came with your subwoofer, and you should find reccommended box enclosures.
If you wanted to create your own customized box for your personal preference (which you have to be careful not to damage your subwoofer), then do a google search for WinISD, or Bass Box Pro, cant really think of any other programs. I myself use WinISD (get the beta verison). However, I really reccommend just saving your time and going with the reccommended enclosures. Don't worry, they know how most people like their bass
They usually give you a range too (such as 2.5 to 3 cubic feet of air space, and a 10 inch long, 4 inch diameter port). In the given example, the tuneing would vary from roughly 32hz to 29hz, which if you plot the difference in a program such as WinISD, you will see their is little difference, which would go unnoticed.
None of my examples account for volume taken up by the subwoofer or the port, but as you can see, their really is a bit of a fudge factor without a noticeable difference. And if they give you actual box dimensions, then just figure out the volume, and you can make the dimensions any size you want, just as long as you mantain the same volume. Of course, with slot ports, this could complicate things.
Simple enough, right?
It really is simple, dont worry!
