    Question Headunit without RCA problem.

    Hey all,

I just found this website. It`s great, i found a lot of useful info on it for my Car PC project. I however have question about my radio how to hookup the Car PC audio to my Bose Sound System.

I have a Opel/Vauxhall Omega 2,5 V6 (1998) which is has a Bose Sound System (BSS). The audio system works perfectly and i don`t want to get it out of my car because it integrates perfectly in my car. It also has a (Blaupunkt) 6 CD Changer. However, i do want to install my Car PC`s audio to it. The BSS has no front AMP (in the Headunit) but only an AMP in the trunk of my car. What i would like to do is cut the wires that go from my head unit to the amp and then connect the wires from my Car PC to the wiring that goes on to the AMP. And then add a switch so i can switch between the audio from my Headunit or the Car PC.

I created a schematic on what i mean and a picture of my car:

Does anyone know if the sound ouput from the Car PC can be rerouted this way?

Hopefully anyone can give me a (positive) response.

OEM integration can be tricky. Since you want to keep the factory speakers and amps it could be as simple as putting in a pushbutton/toggle switch with a relay to swap between your radio and car pc before the factory amp. I'm sure someone more knowledgable than me will chime in shortly

Yeah i know, i connected my Carkit to the "Phone In" connection on the back of my HU but that gave me a extremely hi frequency noise. Later i found that my car had an special carkit connector. That solved the problem.

Also i thought about cutting the wires that come from my CD Changer and use/switch between that for my audio.

Another option is opening my Headunit and place a Cassete > To Line in converter that i can hook up to my speaker out on my Car PC. And then route the cable from that to the back of my HU.

this is really tough actually since bose are speakre usualy have their amps ON the speakers and have special wiring... Are you sure there's an external amp in the trunk? basically, you have to wire it into the head unit, but other than sacrificing that CD changer or a tape deck, you may be out of luck...
