00 Eclipse with Infinity system...please help

Here's the deal: I want to replace my factory headunit and put new door and rear speakers in. I know that normally with the infinity systems you have to bypass the factory amp and run new wires to every speaker when you replace the head unit. I also found that you can buy a MITAH (http://www.discountcarstereo.com/detail.aspx?ID=434) to replace the factory "Infinity Radio" with an aftermarket headunit or to retain the factory radio and install an aftermarket amp and speakers. But I want to replace the headunit AND install new speakers... so am I stuck with rewiring the whole car or what? Thanks...

The MITAH unit just converts the signals from the aftermarket headunit into the factory DIN plug. You can upgrade your speakers with or without it however the factory amp can't power aftermarket speakers well and you will very easily blow them due to distortion.

If you haven't already, check out http://www.club3g.com. They have a car audio forum for the 00+ Eclipse, I'm the mod there.

for the benefits, it's not a whole lot of time to run new speaker wires.

Just go ahead and run em.

Yeah, I agree, run 'em. Have a 00' Eclipse and the MITAH option is ok, but factory amp is not suitable to use with non-factory speakers.

I tried pretty much everything I could think of to (in my case) have an AUX-in.

Easiest and best option would have probably been new headunit, amp & speakers.

If you can locate the factory amplifier you will have direct access to the speaker wires there without rewiring anything.

It looks like the amplifier in your car is probably underneath the front passenger seat. You probably won't be able to get a harness adapter for the amp>speaker connection, but you can cut that connector off and look up the wire colors on a wiring diagram to see which wires go to what speakers.

Here is the radio wiring diagram for your car.

    Peace.

There happens to be a harness that can plug right into the speaker side harness going into the factory amp. That harness is actuall a Daewoo harness. The only thing about that is that you have to repin the harness to get the right lines which really isnt that hard.

Considering the topic of this thread, he's probably using the factory provided infinity speakers that came with the car as stock.
