My old amp used to do that a while back...i always figured there was nothing you can do to stop it. When I upgraded amps it went away, so i figure it might be a quality issue.
just bought a little usb dongle sound card with a mic input and speaker output
plugged it in and it installs and works fine
the problem is when i shutdown or start up it makes this drawn out electrical noise through the speakerrs, i guess this is as the device initialises
is there any way i can stop it?

well i've got a decent amp and it didn't do it before with my soundblaster but.....
this evening when i got in the car to come home i turned the engine over and listened to it....my car has been idling very strangely lately and i could hear this noise change with the revs fluttering,
so i assume its just alterator whine?
kinda sounds like it
if the USB dongle is low quality it probably won't help to reject noise, it might be allowing noise to filter through.
I'd try replacing it if all of your grounds are all good already.

yeah the noise never came through before
i only changed cards cos when i hit potholes my soundsblater would shift and freeze my pc, i thought usb sound card would be a good idea
