    I also forgot to add that you should perform the "screw test" when the sub is in the sub box (as it would be in the car)....basically, just make sure that the magnetic pull is not significant enough to move a small object.

    I'm using a 3.5 hard drive mounted on a bracket that is screwed directly to my sub enclosure for over a year now with no problems.

    i eat subs in my truck next to my computer all the time they wont do any damage... should be ok

    doesnt lead do something to block magnetic fields or is it just radiation?

    Steel does the best job of (passively) blocking magnetic fields. Though its fairly inconvenient to build a big steel box around your sub.

    I use a regular drive mounted on top of my sub enclosure. No problems with the magnet or vibration. My hard drive isn't even srewed down, its just sitting there, so it rattles with every hit of the sub or road bumps, and with new york roads that a lot of bumps.

    That's what im talkin bout...back in the ol days, we used to strap hard drives to our handle bars and do all kinds of crazy jumps wit no pro'lems.
