earthquake specs for you from thier site http://www.earthquakesound.com/mobileproducts.htm
    SWS-6.5" 200watt Max 1 3/4" mounting depth 1 1/4" long throw excursion
    SWS-8" 300watt Max 2 1/8" mounting depth 1.5" long throw excursion
    SWS-10" 400watt Max 2 11/16" mounting depth 1.75" long throw excursion
SWS-12" 600watt Max 3" mounting depth 2" long throw excursion
so the box should be able to fit almost anywhere with that shallow of mounting depth...."no replacement for displacement"

I have heard these subs and they are crap. I have installed a lot of equiptment in the last few years. I have dealt with pleanty of the low end crap, every once in a while you get someting that is truely high end. But in the end it is your money, waist it on what ever you want.

Well I've been lurking but CinFraco post made me reply, he's a complete dumbass if he thinks anything Elemental Designs is junk, I've personally installed and do personally used Elemental Designs subs and amps in my cars and I have nothing but GREAT things to say about them. Theirs a few haters out there just because they can. The 6.5 Sub under scrutiny is a midbass speaker or can be used as a sub, and we used two of them as a sub in a Dakota and they are not ground pounding bass but they are awesome as a fast sub that can keep up with speed metal and the type of listening the owner of the truck requested. I've personally talked to the owner of Elemental Designs on AOL and on the phone, they had some shipment problems for me so they cut me a hell of a deal on some other equipment they had in stock so I did it and I'd never look back. I say buy these subs put some power to them and enjoy. So in a person with TRUE experience in these subs in a PROPER install Cinfraco is a douchebag as mentioned...

I've heard that the amps are good, which would lead me to believe that their subs should be decent at worst....

I'd be interested in hearing exactly why Cinfraco thinks they are crap?

'i've installed a lot of equipment in the last few years' means nothing, give us something to back up this statement and it might mean something.

I would never get anything ED myself because of what I have heard about Ben Milne, and because of the cesorhip I have heard about at the isux forums. I never personally dealt with the company, but in this case, what I have heard at SIN/CSO is enough for me to not want anything to do with them.

Word of mouth by multiple people is a good enough reason for me to stay away from a company (at least when coming from credible people).

I just recently got my setup done over the weekend.. i went all infinity. I have 2 infinity kappa 63.7i 6.5" speakers up front and 2 infinity kappa 693.7i 6x9" speakers in rear. I'm pushing them with an infinity reference 7541a amp. Put it this way, my friend has an ok system.. all jl aduio.. small front speakers and small back speakers and he has 2 10" jl audio subs. My system has wayyy more bass than his does. Its unbelievable. The speakers are amazing and have very good bass. Check out the reviews for them on crutchfield.com . IMO if you have the money to spend i would go with something like these kappas. I dont even need subs now.

no i have not tryed the SWS myself, but i thought it might be a option for your mounting depth problom, as for the link im sorry here is the right one.. http://www.earthquakesound.com/SWS04.htm
i have used earthquake amps and some of their subs over the years and had no probloms at all but i think their high ends lack. as for opinions every ones got one thats why theres so many products on the market.
just for the record i still have a 500w amp by earthquake ive been beating on since 1992.. still working flawlessly, but its been running a single 12" at 4ohm mono so i never really abused it. and yes i belive there are bigger better products out there. just trying to offer ideas of somthing diffrent

most of my ED experience isn't first hand, there is an installer on the vette forum who really like the ed products. and for the price they are hard to beat, all the vette owners that went with any of the ed products loves them...they arent into competition or anything like that, they just enjoy good sound.

i ordered there sound deadener earlier this week and it was out for shipping two hours after i ordered it. from what ive heard, the only problems you have with ed is if the product you want isnt in stock

You can get some exceptionally powerfull component speakers, and I wouldn't be suprised if they turn out more effective than most 6X9s. They will also sound a lot better.

For instance, the Resonant Engineering XXX components, or Rainbow Power CS components. Those are both very high-end components, with a price tag to match, but I'm sure there are a lot of bassy components in lower price ranges as well.
