huh? well we would need to know what your indash DVD player make and model is. We would need to know what software/maps you have. We would need to know the GPS.
Without a whole lot more information, i can definetly say "maybe"
I've searched but didn't find a definate answer. What i wanted to do as a temporary solution for my need of GPS until i get the carputer running is using a usb GPS reciever for my in-dash dvd unit. Is there a way i can connect the reciever and run the map through the DVD slot? I found a thread saying that only a Garmin GPS reciever can do this, so not sure if it is worth a try. thanks in advance

It is a mayron& davis A7 in-dash dvd unit, which plays all CD formats includes DVD. Software is probably going to be anything that is compliance with NMEA-0183...street finder, etc... As for the receiver it is a generic usb connection. This is a experiment but not sure if i should start because im working on my carputer and just want GPS right now.
NOW NOW! I WANT IT ALL NOW!

I don't believe so....usb carries signal over 4 cables I believe it is. Much like serial. Each pin does something different.

No, you cannot just hook a GPS reciver into a DVD system. There are several reasons for this.
1. There is not port to connect your GPS to the DVD system.
2. Even if there was a port your DVD system has no GPS mapping software. No you cannot just put software in there because the DVD system will not run it because well its not a computer.
To make a long story short, your DVD system and a PC are two differnt animals completely.
