pcmcia? usb? model?
hey everyone,
i'm a long time viewer first time poster :P
this site has helped me get my computer up and running and troubleshoot all my problems - its running great!
i have a problem though - i just installed my netgear wireless card (the notebook one), and now, every few seconds, i get this repeated popping noise from my speakers... like pop pop pop pop pop pop pop, gettting louder with each pop until it just stops, waits a few seconds and does it again... it didnt do this without the wireless card, so i have no idea what it could be... the pop rate is about 3 pops per second...
help please!! i love having wireless, but i couldnt stand it popping constantly...
maybe i should take a wireless card back?

its the netgear WG511v2 PCMCIA card...
Blinkey,
Does your laptop have an internal microphone built into it? If so, disable it and let me know if that fixes the problem.

hi,
i forgot about this thread while my carputer was out of action... but its back up and running, and i still get this popping sound...
i am not running a laptop, its running off a normal PC and im getting this popping sound still... a mate of mine said they got the same popping sound when their router was too close to a set of speakers, so im guessing its just sometihng to do with wireless and speakers... question is, is there anything i can do to stop it?
interesting. I'm running a d-link wireless SUB dongle, and haven't had an issue.
do you have any signal wires running close to this unit?
are you running direct from your PC into your stereo?
if you remove the wireless card, I'm guessing that you don't notice the sound any more? I know you said that it wasn't there before, but something else might have changed durring that time.

well in my carputer case, there is a slot to add a PCMCIA card just above my on board sound card sockets... maybe because they are so close there is interference? im going to buy a new sound card soon.. if i bought an external one would that maybe fix the issue?
are you running a Mini-ITX that has that?
SP12000 maybe?
if so, it's the same board I'm running. I'm running a sound card in that slot though, without any problems.
Have you checked the settings on the board (BIOS) for anything that might look to be out of the ordinary?
