2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Infinity Sound.. No Sound?

Hi Everyone~

I am new, but am having a weird prob. I have a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited with the Infinity Gold Sound system in it. Yesterday, I got in to drive away, turned on the radio, it lighted up...But No Sound? I have checked all the fuses and they are OK. I did get (only once) an error code on the radio that read out as "dr....1" and have no idea what that means? I have tried tapes and cd's and still no sound? Any advise would be appreciated?

i'm taking just a guess, so do not take my word, but i am guessing that maybe the headunit goes through an external amp which is hidden behind the dash somewhere and the fuse for that might have blown. just a very wild guess. I know other head units on cars like toyotash have external amps.

Each speaker has its own amp built on the back of the speaker. At a guess i would say the outputs on the radio have gone bad. The best way to test it is to try to get another radio the same as the one you have an try it. Or upgrade the stereo.

That jeep has a factory amp under the passanger rear seat if it read to much resestance fro one speaker it will shut down to protect itself from burning ....
Dr 1 in most cases that would stand for driver side speaker 1.... now you have 6 speakers number one should be in the dash but don't worry the tweeters are very simple to get to pop up the top smaller part of the dash with a flat head screw driver.....
Best way to test this is to unplug the speaker and turn the raido on.....
