    More Headlight Dimming Questions

    Hey guys,

So we just finished up installing my system into my Chrysler 300. For amps we went with 2 elemental designs 9.1's and 2 9.2's. Subs were running 2 diamond audio D912D2. Speakers are 2 sets of e.design 6500 componets. Head unit DDX 7017 and 2 headrest TV's. Total RMS 2400.

We did the Big 3 and running 2 optima yellow tops (34/78). I'm using the stock 160 amp alternator. I thought we'd be ok but to my dislike we did receive some headlight dimming. Anyone out there have any other ideas on clearing up this problem.

What about returning the 2 optimas and getting a Kinetik HC2400. Anyone have expierience with this and think this would resolve the issue? And does anyone know where i could get one in Cali or possibly get free shipping from somewhere on the battery? Thanks for your time guys.

If your refering to a capacitor, no i dont have one. I won't have one. I don't belive in them and i've never seen any proof that they actually do anything. A 2nd battery accomplishes the same thing that a power cap would do. I think there is far better ways to spend money

then you are destined to have headlight diming.

a capaciator will work, 1-1.5 farad, commonly avaiable. ebay for under $100, much cheeper than a second battery and circuitry to go along with it. also a lot less weight than a second battery.

Ok but i already have the 2nd battery installed. I don't belive there is any way that if i removed the 2nd battery and installed a cap it would clear up the dimming.

You can maybe try a grounding kit for your car since you are running two batteries. Headlights dimming can be a number of problems. A capacitor might help (I dont believe in them either) but I think a grounding kit for your whole car would be cheaper.

As for the batteries, I have no clue.

So much for heeding the solicited advice.

If you ask a question... maybe you should listen to the answer.

lol man how can they not work, why do you need proof

I have to say all they do is store the power for when its need by the amps, the light dim is cos your amps are draining the power as its taking it straght from the bat, with a cap it will take from there and when it has then it boosts back up the needed power. you will finc it will drain more the higher the volume you go without a cap I have even seen cars cut out and fully drain the bat with this happening, then when that happens every one is yer running around like nuts to come and pick you up lol
