can any of u please give me some adivce on what it could be?

try putting a switch in your ignition wire so that you can turn off the power to the amp after you start your car and then turn it back on to reset your amp.

the first thing I would try is to pick up your ignition from a different point and see if anything changes. you could een just jump over to your power line for the amplifier and go into the ignition to have it constantly stay on and see if you still have the same problem once you turn the car on.

get a multimeter and test the voltage and resistance.

The only thing that comes to mind is that you are getting a power spike or drop when the car turns on. But then your other electronics would be wigging out.

What kind of amplifier is it?

can you disconnect all speakers from the amplifier and try it? in all theory, it shouldn't, BUT, it might just help troubleshoot the issue.

if you just leave the key in accessory but don't turn the motor over and just leave it for a while, will the amplifier stay on for a while? or will it go into protection after a bit (say the same amount of time you would wait and turn on the car before?)

    Hi, thanks for your replys.

First off ive used a multimeter and tested the voltage when the igniton is on and when the engine is on. when the ignition is on i get readings of 12.4v from the main power cable goin to the amp and the remote wire also reads in at 12.v. the remote wire is connected to the power antenna wire coming off the head unit and then connected into the amp. when i started the engine i get readings off 14v on the power cable and 14v on the remote wire.

    This is the amplifier: http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/pro...s_id/4566.html

my bro still has to disconnect all the speakers and try it, and if that doesnt work he is going to reset the amp by taking everything off it and reconnecting it.
and if that doesnt work he is goin to try Sporty Drew's idea.

and if that doesnt work im gonna send it back lol.

Oh yea and i can leave the key in the ignition n blast music out no probs for ages and the amp doesnt go off, but once i start the engine the amp just goes into protection.

Oh yea i have also turned the head unit off and back on again when the engine is on the amp jus goes to protection mode.
But when the ignition is on it works a dream n sounds well.

i will get back to you all with the outcome.

    anymore adivce is welcome.

thanks again y'all, your advice is much apreciated

I would find another 12V source for the remote lead. That probably shouldn't be the problem, but I would still try it.

Can you explain what is connected to the power antenna wire of your head unit. Usually the power antenna wire is only on when listening to the radio. That way a dorky antenna isn't sticking up if you are just listening to CD's. But it really depends on the head unit.

    Just so I understand:

(Car ACC+) -----> (Head Unit ACC in - red wire)

(Head Unit PWR ANT out - blue wire) -----> (Amp remote in)

I'm just making sure, because from your statement I can't tell what exactly you have hooked to the Power Antenna wire.

    Hi Red GTI Vr6,

The amp remote wire is connected to the power antenna wire on the head unit. I Dont have radio in my car so the power antenna wire wasnt in use. so my bro decided to hook up the amp remote wire onto the power antenna wire.

(Head Unit PWR ANT out - blue wire) -----> (Amp remote in)

And yeah my head unit only has one remote out labled " power antenna " it doesnt have a wire labled " amp turn on " so thats why my bro hooked the remote wire upto the power antenna wire and then into the amp.
