Static noise when using steering wheel to control the volume

I have installed Rolf's IBUS interface (2001 BMW e46) and am able to control the volume from my steering wheel and my installation seems almost 100% quiet except that when I change the volume using the steering wheel buttons I hear static noise through the speaker and it goes away as soon as I release the buttons. It does not happen with next/prev track buttons.

    Any hint is appericated.

I'd say contact the manufacturer. it just might be a busted piece if anything else
