    bit perfect and kernel streaming

    Due to the recent discussions that have been going on in other threads about this, we decided it might be a good idea to start a new thread dedicated to this pursuit.

    Since I'm no expert on it, and I'm still trying to learn about it, all I can do for the moment is post up some links that I've gathered thanks to some googling and thanks to JasonWW.

    So here they are:

    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=567562

    If anyone out there wants to discuss, or has any input, this is the place for it!

    http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showt...&&#post7602149

    So am I to believe I am able to get bit perfect sound out of my card I have now? I just want to make sure I'm reading that right and figured a second set of eyes would be the seal of approval...lol

    Bitperfect works fine for me for AC3 and PCM, although I still haven't been able to send DTS unaltered through Winamp, although I can with MPC. But that requires changing AC3filter settings, which is tedious with a touchscreen.

    I think it makes a noticeable difference in quality. Not as dramatic as cutting a noise filter on and off in winamp, but that's the effect with some sources.

    The downside is that some sources are too quiet, and others are painfully loud, such as AC3 files ripped from 5.1 DVD concerts. Also, The winamp EQ, volume and Master volume won't work except for MP3s, although I guess that's the idea. Now that I have free time, I'm going to finally get everything set up perfectly, I'll try to post how I have everything configured.
