    Low-budget SPL Subs

Cliff Notes: SPL sub(s) for ~250-300 dollars?

Two popular choices seem to be Alpine Type Rs and Kicker L7s. I have 2.2 cubic feet to work with. I have nothing wrong against either of the two above companies, but I wanted to see what others have to say. I've mainly focused on SQ setups with all my research and personally. Right now I have two JL 10W3s in the car in a sealed box with each sub having 0.9 cubic feet of space. I wanna replace this with something that'll blur my vision. I have a amp lined up, but I'm undecided on the sub(s). I was thinking of going with either those two up there, or maybe a single Soundsplinter rl-p or IDMAX. I heard good things about Digital Designs but they don't have any prices on their site. I e-mailed them about it, waiting on their reply. I also tried contacting RE Audio but they never got back to me so they're out. Suggestions on sub(s) for up to 300 dollars? I'm only going to be playing with about 900-1100wrms to power the sub(s) because I don't have the electrical system to support any more than that.

?? No, I don't drive a Miata. I doubt that car has that much space to work with. I drive a Millenia

The rl-p and idmax are both known more as SQL subs not as SPL so thats why Im not really looking at those two that much....plus the IDMAX v4 is supposed to come out this year.

In your header it says SPL and in your message it says "I've mainly focused on SQ"...

Check out the Pioneer/Premiere lines if you want cheap/quality/loud in one package.

That's a 12 with 1000 RMS power handling, they have a 10 with 800 RMS power handling as well.

i think he means in the past he's only focused on sq, so spl is new to him and that's why he's asking for help.

I'd find some prices on the DD subs then. they can pound, no doubt. Not sure how expensive (or inexpensive) they are though. A single 12 with 2.2 cu. ft. should be plenty, port it on top of that, and you should have some good output.

The optimal setup for one 12" IDMAX is a 2.2 cu. ft. (after displacement) ported box.
