Right now I'm just finishing acquisition/starting build on my first install, will be competing in SQNZ (yes, I know nobody's ever heard of it, but that's what I get for living in New Zealand :P). But really, I'm in it for the free tips and tuning help. If I happen to pick up some prizes along the way, that just makes it all the better.

My system's kind of a mongrel, Rainbow Power CS components, Audiotec Fisher Helix B4 surround amps, Adire Brahma subwoofer and Digital Designs SS1 monoblock. With an Alpine PXA-H700. >.> I didn't deliberately try and make sure nothing matched, it just happened.

when i started this version of my system i had every intention of competing. i was building everything to the usac book and taking the proper pics. but now since i've been going to shows and meeting more people there i am only going to do the show and shine thing and just have a crazy system. maybe after awhile i might try to tune it for competetion. i would have to say i changed my mind last summer.

snoopdan...nice enclosure there. have you ever been on decware.com. he has some crazy plans over there. he has an enclosure like yours that has a moveable inner enclosure so you can tune it. crazy!

theres this box called the wicked one. its a folded horn cab. can hold up to 4 drivers if you clam shell them.

Thanks for the tip, ive been thru decware many times. Theirwicked one box that you mention is pretty and all, but it really doesnt get all that loud, and when you compete in SPL, thats ALL you care about. They do look cool though, i'll give it that. A buddy of mine made a 15" Memphis M3 version of the box, and unfortunately he only got mediocre response from it, only topping out at 148.x and I know those M3's should of done over 150 in a plain slot enclosure, so it was sort of dissapointing for him (especially after all the work that goes into one of those wicked one boxes).

Ive played with some removeable port systems, and they work ok for the most part as long as you make them real aerodynamic and free of sharp edges and such. Ultimately im ususally to lazy to go back and change ports out, so I just have stuck with horn loaded hybrid slot enclosures and ive done pretty well with that (and its of my own design). If anyone is interested in how im making these enclosures, i'll be happy to furnish pics and autocad drawings for you. Im pretty open to helping people out in the car audio game, making friends IS what it is all about to me.

Red GTi VR6, you're right .... MECA can be sorta ghey about the way they conduct business and their lack of branching out (allthough they now claim they have MECA china, but somehow I doubt there will be a bunch of chinese dudes running around with four 15" RE MT's in a honda civic in a country where 3/4 of the population cant afford a cheeseburger.) Meca's ok for competiton and meeting new people, but it lacks in structure. There is even a fourm to discuss MECA's shortcommings, http://www.mecasucks.com which is at least a pretty funny read if nothing else. But it is unfortunate that you dont have access to MECA, its a good way to meet people as crazy as you are with their audio setups.

Again, I ask if anyone is interested, I do run a SPL fourm over at http://www.basswhores.com if you wanna stop by and join the madness. Its always great to meet new people in the 'business'

    thanks Red GTi VR6
when you live in north idaho the only thing close would be seattle events thats over 350miles from here. for one event in this up comming year . our local events dont have points for world comps. but they do have ok judges and they do have a good turn out yes we are what you call backwood competitors. but you should blame the system not the people becase we are no where close to events feel free to list any events close to the northwest washington, idaho, montana only larger show we have still is not "real" by your standards.. sorry you get your kicks by dissing smaller towns and our events lacks credibility. largest town near here is spokane washington all the rest are smaller yet. here is a link to one in idaho last year.. please list any other events if you can find any in this area thanks red

sorry you feel that way red
but your opinion is the only one that counts here so u guess i should think of you as the audio "god" for you know all. you are the "everything" in the car audio. one would think of giving encouragement to any level of compation for no one can ever better them self without new knowlage
to build the bigger better next time.

nope - I think you're taking this all too personal actually.

I'm not dissing you or your accomplishments, however, saying that because this car won a LOCAL show, then it's good, isn't a strong basis to go off of. Why? Because most local shows are just that, nothing more than a few local people showing up, you're lucky if you have more than 2 other people in your class.

It's nothing more than stating a fact, it's not ment to tear you appart or diss your install.

I give a lot of encouragement to entry level people, however, when they start to think they are hot **** just because of winning a local show, I'm sorry they can't take reality. I ENCOURAGE people to participate, I ENCOURAGE people to take the plunge and go head long, I ENCOURAGE people to try it out, hell, I answer a **** load of questions about it every day. I'm sorry if you can't see that.

What I'm saying is that for you to say that this stuff is good because this car won a local comp, isn't a valid statement.

It saddens me that you are A) taking it so personal B) can't see what I'm saying BECAUSE you are taking it so personal.
It's really no different than someone coming on here saying that they have a better sounding vehicle than anyone else, but they have nothing to back it up, it's not a valid claim!
