Yes, this is true. Street rules require us to keep enclousres below the rear window of the vehicle, and you MUST have all wires exposed in order for the judges to review your install before they let you run thru the competition lanes. This is to insure that the 18" length on the fuse is in place, the proper amperage fuseing is being used, and no cheating with additional equipment is being done. Actualy 5 out of 10 SPL installs dont even have carpet, fiberglass work, sometimes usually just are exposed MDF in order to reduce the chance of DB loss thru upholstery and cancellation. So at the very least, im in the group that DOES care what their install looks like, as I upholster my install even though I loose db's for doing so. I also keep my box as small as I can, as to add additional airflow around the enclosure, since I use the back hatch door as a loading surface for my subwoofer and port. So I guess the lesson being taught here is if you dont have any idea WTF your commenting on, DONT.

pure comedy? Its a fact...go to any dbdrag, Iasca, Usaci or MECA event and check whats running thru the lanes...most dont have carpet or even attempt to make their install look pretty. But I guess your ignorance on the subject shines, so again...if you dont know wtf your talking about, dont comment....that is, unless you like making yourself look stupid which is perfectly ok by me.

I'll have to agree with snoopdan

some people simply don't understand SPL. Either they think it's rediculous or that there's absolutely no science to it.

Both do nothing more than prove ignorance.

Sounds more like CES///M3 has a bit of a complex and needs to prove something and feels like this thread is the place to do it for some reason.

Show cars don't have to be functional, and most aren't, so the idea of actually serving a purpose is lost on some.

I agree with Red Gt as well! lol.... I know you know, but most "show cars" with tons of subwoofers with flashy installs, lights, flowing fiberglass subwoofer enclosures with plexiglass tops to show all the speaker magnet parts are all pretty any everything, but are totally horrible at producing any real DB numbers to actually be competitive. So if anything, SPL vehicles are a more raw application of technology for use.... I know **I** put my equipment and vehcile thru massive amounts of abuse every time I burp my ride.....everything shakes apart - window seals, interior peices, CAR PC USB CONNECTORS, etc... People who have those show type installs usually cant do much more than look nice....and thats just how it is. Rarely you see a mix of "show and go"....and they probably arent putting up great numbers on the Termlab.

this is alot like racing.... the pretty show & go cars are nice, but the real top dogs are all about function, & are less than show quality... if it looks nice too then great, but that's not what's important there really..... inbetween rounds thrashing on the car, who cares if you scratch it... who cares if the nose gets layed on the ground.. maybe theres stress cracks at the dezus connectors....... even duct tape for a temporary repair.... it's all about function..

alot of spl cars are the same, BUT you can make it look better if you care too... I guess that's not really a big priority though for alot of competitors..., it's more about the raw numbers..... same as racing... that's competition...

hey ces, just curious, if your first post wasn't dirrected at snoop, who was it dirrected at? :running_away_to_mind_his_own_business:

the deal with SPL vehicles not being finished out is because they are contantly being torn down and rebuilt, new box designs, different port designs, etc.

being that it's a lot of testing, many times a box is built to go to a single show, see what you hit, go back to the drawing board and see how it compared to last time and go from there.

why spend all that money and time finishing it out when you're just going to pull it all appart?
