Yes, I compete in SPL
Yes, I compete in SQ
Not yet, I'm wanting to compete in SPL
Not yet, I'm wanting to compete in SQ
Why in the hell would you ever want to compete in any of it?
that's why there is more than just outlaw spl...you can go legal.
There's port wars as well, which is probably what they were doing at times.
Not every vehicle that runs through the lanes is running in the same class, never mind the power class, but the style of format.
Sounds like you need to read up on the rules for USACi SPL:
http://www.soundoff.org/06splrules.htm
Read that and you're have a better idea about what's going on.

I might compete in SQ, now that I've gone through all the effort of making a nice system with nice components. However, since I mounted the speakers in the doors, and not in kicks, they probably won't do very well in a SQ comp. Of course, I like how they sound, and thats the most important.
What I will probably end up competing in is more of a car show kind of thing, with empasis on show, go, and sound. There are a couple shows that give points for everything, including the show part (flashy rims, light systems, etc...) go (installed turbo, high HP, tricked out suspension, etc...) and sound (obvious...) Thats what I will probably end up going for.
Right now, I am waiting for my turbo system of choice (JWT) to get CARB certified, and then I'll be installing that, as well as upgrading my suspension, and then I should be ready. Maybe a new set of rims for the show part, but thats about it.
Dave
really?
i find that train of thought to be completely untrue...especially since my car won it's class in finals last year with the speakers in the doors
I'd suggest considering it for sure.

Now, I know this to be untrue, since I think my car sounds great, but my ears are pretty unreliable for that sort of thing, and many people just automatically judge that since the speakers are in the doors, the SQ is poor. If you go into something biased, you'll likely hear what you want, rather than what is really true, and SQ competetions are inherently subjective.
Second thing: Red, I understand where you are coming from, and I understand that your comment (that I quoted) was meant to be helpful, and not sarcastic. However, to a neutral observer, without the benefit of past posts, and the lack of secondary body language (in order to judge the speakers emotional content), your post would come across as condescending. I've seen this in a number of your posts, and while I could really care less, and I know you (most likely) don't mean it that way, apparently some do take it the wrong way, which is why there was a minor (low intensity) flame war earlier on this thread. I would suggest that you try and tone that down.
Of course, you are welcome to disregard this friendly advice, or even to take offense to it, but I honestly mean it in a helpful way.
Dave
I'm extremely sorry you took it that way, as that's not at all how it was intended.
I'm also sorry that you appear to be extremely sensitive.
I'll leave you to your own vices.
I was only trying to encourage, but alas, it seems that's not what you want.
Enjoy!

It really wasn't a comment on how I took it, but rather a comment on the general tone I have seen in your posts, and a bit of advice. But hey, you're welcome to assume what you want, although I thought I made myself clear.
Dave
damn you're a hypocrite!

No, that one I clearly meant and intended to be condescending, and didn't do it on accident
