    How do you control Bass??

    Hey everyone-
I currently run a Rockford Fosgate 801S powering my 2 12's, but I am looking to get a new amp. Figure its time for a change. I really liked this amp because it was clean and easy to control. I had a bass control knob mounted up front giving me control to 18bd of bass boost. This was useful because some songs have too much bass that needs to be lowered and some have too little bass which needs to be boosted. I liked being able to control my bass with the easy turn of a knob.

Now I am looking to get an Alpine MRD-M1005 but I noticed that there is no remote bass control. Does anyone here also not have a bass knob?? If so, how do you control the bass? I run Centrafuse as my front end and all the volume controls are messed up because my soundcard is not compatible with Centrafuse's drivers. So controlling the bass there is not an option for me. I am scared to get this amp because of the potential lack of bass control on the fly. Does anyone have any input about this??? Thanks in advance!

um.. what i am currently doing.. is I put my bazooka on full volume w/ full crossover. I have a switch that turns it on and off.. anywho. to control it I just use my head unit and put the bass on like -3 when i turn it on. B/c my sub is really loud for my little car.. I am tho in a month gana get some radio shack knobs and just soder it on the sub so i can control the volume and freq from the front.

Well, looking at the specs you'd be wasting your money on the Alpine compared to the Rockford. (If you're running at 4 Ohms.)

Otherwise you'd probably need some sort of External EQ or RCA volume control.

Ohh yea I am getting a new sub too. Selling the 2 12s and just going with one new one. I will be running 2 ohms. I already have the MRV-F345 and I really like it. I am rebuilding my trunk and would have liked to have an amp that matches the other one. Kinda sucks not having a head unit now, would have been easy to control the bass with one. No big deal I guess...

What is an RCA volume control? Does that control the level of input voltage to the amp???

try a audiocontrol epi-center or a epic-160 for all the bass enhancement control
i like the epic-160 i own the epic-150 "older model" it show battery voltage and a rough idea of the spl in you car with the built in mic

I may be incorrect, I havent looked at those spec, but some alpine amps have it so you can monitor and control you're amps from an Alpine compatible headunit. This may be changing alot of things from your setup, esp if you're trying to achieve a headless setup. But just giving out the info if you or anyone else may like to know.

I myself an trying to get the Alpine Processor PXA-H701, with the standalone controller RUX-C701. Which gives you the ability to control the sub volume from the controller. I dont know how well it would work, but hopefully I will find out soon

Its official I am going optical with a DSP. I've been looking into it and the Alpine PXA-H701 and RUX-C701 look the best. I realize that it solves many of the issues that I have in the carputer including a rotary volume control and higher voltage output as well as the bass control issuea. Now I just need a USB Toslink adapter...Any ideas??

Buy my epicenter. It has a volume and low frequency enhance control. $95 shipped?

If not, its going in my 73 cadillac El Dorado convertible...

Naw thanks man. Thats a great unit and a great price but I am looking to get full control over all my channels. That would be a great add on in addition to the DSP but after that im gunna be *** broke

I just bought this and I will see what happens. Boss stuff usually sucks but it was cheap so hell with it. I think 5.1 and 4.1 is a waste in a car. Mp3s are stereo first of all and dvds at the close range from the driver to the left speaker is just a waste of time. Pro-logic works great for dvds and also the center channel is worthless becuase of how close you are to it. I am a hometheater goon so thats why I think its a waste.

So I am going to run that to the front on my sb live card then the other output to my speaker amp and the sub output to my sub amp. I think overall I will have more control and it will sound better. I am also going to stick a RCA line level volume knob between the boss unit and my speaker amp. Now I will have complete hardware control of my volume levels.
