    Question 4.1 Sound System Recommendations

Since I am on a budget, I am looking for a decent system for under $400

    I have the following:
    Pioneer DEH-P3800MP CD/MP3/WMA Player

    I need the following:
*Front: Good quality 4x6 front speaker
*Rear: Good quality 6.5 rear speakers
*Sub: Decent 10" Sub that can produce smooth bass and nice sound.
*Amp: ANYHTING of quality that can handle 4 speakers (whichever you guys recommend) and 1 10inch SUB

I want this system to sound nice and shake the trunk ;p Nothing too fancy though!

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the help!
    Cheers,
    ben

I think 'good luck' are the words you're going to get from here.

'Good quality 4x6' - Infinity or Polk
'Good quality 6.5' - Infinity or Polk

Between front and rears you're already looking at around $170.

4 Channel amp? Figure $200-$300. Don't bother trying to find a cheap five channel.

Mono amp? Maybe $150 cheapest if you're lucky.

Sub in a box? Possibly for maybe $100.

Plus you'll need all the power wiring and RCA cables which'll probably be $150-$200 in itself.

I see two ways to go about it: mediocre everything or have a few things done well. You can get "decent" speakers and a "decent" amp for an okay system. Or, you can steal a page from NASA and do it like this:

    - Sound Quality ("sound nice")
    - Power ("shake the truck")
    - Price ("under $400")

    ...pick 2.

You're going to have to compromise something.

Not neccessarily, since when does price make a product better!

I understand what you guys are coming about

fortunatly enough (or not) - I will be looking at buying used components on ebay.
I am looking at the following:
4x6 Infinity Reference for the front - $55
6.5 Infinity Reference (or any other cheap ones) - ~$60
    used 10" Infinity Sub - $50 max
Infinity or kicker Amp - $200 max
    random cables i dont have - $40
I think i will make it within my price range. and with some more help from you guys, I can match all the components and make sure they will work great with each other, especially for the amp.... how powerful of an amp fo i need?
how much should i expect to pay for it?

ps. already bought the headunit and the cables

    thanks again guys!
