    Upgrading audio system

I'm tired of my setup which is currently nothing , but used to be infinity reference 6.5"s in the front, sony xplod (god i know sorry) in the back and 2 kicker comp 10" subs in the trunk. I have the subs on a nice JBL 300 watt RMS amp (perfect for the comps) and a ****ty amp for the speakers.

Well i'm tired of ****ty stuff, so here's my plans.

    1. Ditch the rear sound stage completely.
    2. Use my existing amp to power one Image Dynamics ID12 v.3 D4
    3. And here's where I I'm expecting to get yelled at by redgti (Just kidding, you know more about this than most everyone else)

I'm at a loss for new front speakers. I had been hearing good things about the elemental designs components, but i've also heard bad things.*

I'm thinking either the eDi 6000's

but then i've heard good things about image dynamics coaxials as well.

I'd like to keep the cost under $250 for the components, so if you guys (and girl) have any advice, i'd really appreciate it.

edit:: i've already started by deadening my doors, (and sides in the rear) and the trunk/hatch.
My Carputer! (More Car Pics at the end)
    2 Kicker Comp 10"
Epia M-9000, 256 MB DDR, 120 Gig HD
    Lilliput 7" VGA Touchscreen
    Check it out?!

dont know much about the specs of the amp, is it 2 ohm stable though? I really like ID subs, cant go wrong with them!

I havent heard anything bad about the ed components, sure they wont live up to a set of $800 focals but thats not the issue here. Personally I have some CDT's and I am very pleased with them. they are in your price range so try to find a place and give them a listen to. If you can justify spending the $250 then get the higher line ed's over the less expensive one.

If you only want to keep it under $250, go w/ the 6500s over the 6000s. Definite improvement between the two...very much so worth it.

    hey now!

I'll go ahead and put my two cents in.

As long as you stick with a decent brand speaker, something that is at least respectable, you'll be happy. There's nothing wrong with that at all.

    Enjoy!

(and smart move on wanting to upgrade!)

    so true!

I myself am on a tight budget too. I'm looking to buy some MB Quart discus-line compo for the front staging. doesn't cost much (about 170euro's). But MB QUart is a desent brand so i'm gessing it will sound fine.

if someone were to come in here and say they wanted the best, period, then recomending brands would come into play.

when someone comes in here saying they just want something better, saying this brand or that brand is better than another (when we're talking about name brands that are worth a damn anyways) it's someone who doesn't know their *** from their elbow...lol

since when can you define "the best"? there raly is no best or what so ever. it all depends on what you're gaining for. and your ow nears are still the best measurement "tool"
