Question 04 Impala w/ OnStar ... Premium or Stock BOSE???

So I've been collecting hardware for like 6 months now, and just as I think I have everything set up, I start installing my first mods into my '04 Chevy Impala SS (Indy Edition) - the sub amp and a pair of 12" subs. I'm drilling, screwing, bending over backwards ... well, I'm installing my hardware, and everything's plugged in, but I find out that the 12VDC Acc. wire I expected out of my Peripheral GMAA (here) is only giving me 3/10 of a volt *sigh* obviously that's not going to fly. I look around, and I'm seeing conflicting reports, one says it works on all 2003-2006 Chevys w/ a Class 2 data bus, another says all Chevys with OnStar have the Class-2, others saying this GMAA only works on Hummers and Tahoes, still others saying it only works on cars w/ Premium Bose stereos ... wtf am i to believe????

after hours of searching, I decided to start asking questions from all the masters here at mp3car.com that I've been reading about for months now (actually, you guys are the reason I stepped up from being simply a car audio snob to wanting to continue my windoze coding in the car as well as at work/home) ... my question is simply this ... wtf am i supposed to do??? do you guys think this adapter should work? is there a difference between 'premium' and 'stock' bose stereos for this impala, and how do i tell the difference? is it possible i don't even have a bose stereo? i've checked for any markings or indicators, i can't find anything that says bose, but i've been led to believe that onstar doesn't work without it ... help!!!!!

    and thanks in advance

not sure if it's the same, but on the vettes, when you remove the stock h/u you lose the acc power on the radio's harness. You may have to go prodding with the multimeter and find a switching source. this may be a shot in the dark but one of the common sources in the vette for acc is fuse 22. try there?

Never used the Peripheral. I never had a problem with the Metra parts when I was installing at CC. http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Metra...oductDetail.do

Aah, I misunderstood. The part I showed you won't help, then.

Most likely if you don't see 'BOSE' stamped on the door speakers, you don't have the BOSE system. If that's the case, you don't really need that adapter. You can get 12v ACC from under the dash somewhere, or the ignition, and tap in a line-level / RCA converter behind the radio to get your amp audio.

*sigh* i think you're right, but most of the places i look at that actual give descriptions of what they did to add an extra amp to their setup, or replace their head unit w/ something else, include an adapter of some kind like this one. I'm going to buy one of these and hope it works, regardless of the stereo setup I have in mine ... maybe there's only one? *crosses fingers* wish me luck ... once i get this set up i can finally start on my real project carpc, here i come!

Once again, that states it's for BOSE systems..so be prepared for it to not work..
